Renovating for Profit

Insight into Us

Some of you already know us, our story and our journey, but not everyone, so I thought I would share a bit of insider info about Lucas and I, our family and the crazy life we have chosen to live!

We started our building Company nearly 15 years ago, and as much as we love building beautiful homes for our clients, we also love building for ourselves, so we recently decided it was again time for a bit of a change.

Over our 20 years of together life, we have moved 9 times! That may seem like not much to some people, but for others, it may seem like insanity!

We have built new homes and renovated old ones for our own family, built and sold 6 spec houses and flipped vacant land. We have lived with my parents for more years than I care to remember and have had all our belongings in and out of storage many, many times. All this with 3 kids in tow!

About 7 years ago, we had the opportunity to purchase an acre of land in a newly established Estate in an area we have both always loved. We purchased this block off the plan and waited 2 years for it to be registered. Once the Estate was registered and we settled on our block, we hit the ground running with our own new build and moved into our home in 2018.

The build design was a bit of a modern take on a very Hamptons look, with a lot of detail in all the finishes, large wrap around verandas and light filled rooms throughout. It was 460sqm under roof line with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a study, media room, pool, pool house and a 200sqm shed (and a very cool treehouse).

We lived in this home for just over 4 years and, (once it was all complete) decided it was time to sell (again). Since the time we purchased this block off plan in 2015, new acre lots in our area were selling for 3 times what we paid for ours. Hence, this meant we made a nice profit.

We then purchased a beautiful (but very tired) old home in a nearby area which we moved our family into and launched ourselves into the non-structural renovations whilst we designed the structural stuff and waited for Council approval.

This home will lend itself to a more Modern Farmhouse design, which I love! We will incorporate large timber beams, painted brick for texture, raked ceilings and large windows to bring in the light.

The purpose of this Blog is to take you on a bit of a trip into our lives and our Renovating for Profit journey, with DIY tips and insider knowledge along the way!

Sounds fun? Wellโ€ฆIโ€™ll keep you posted!!
